Facebook Regional Trade & Customs Operations Specialist, North America in Chicago, Illinois

This Regional Trade Operations Specialist is part of Facebook’s growing Global Trade Operations team, which is part of Facebook’s Compliance, Security, and Investigations (“CSI”) organization. As Trade Operations, we partner closely with all internal business partners engaged in cross-border trade to enable them to move fast compliantly and efficiently. This includes Infrastructure, Facilities, Engineering, R&D teams, Labs, B8, Oculus VR and IT Logistics. In partnership with Trade Legal, Tax and Finance we educate, enable and empower the organization by building sustainable trade compliance practices that align to the needs of the business while also being scalable for a rapidly growing global footprint. The Trade Operations team is invested in aligning and operationalizing trade practices through a combination of training, responsive partnership, deep subject matter expertise, and excellent customer service.

Required Skills:

  1. Support the day-to-day import/export activities in the North American region including daily interaction with the company’s customs brokers, freight forwarders and third-party logistics in the North American region.

  2. Support operational/transactional requests in coordination with internal cross-functional partners.

  3. Review and approve documentation for international shipments – including, but not limited to commercial invoices, packing lists, export/import license applications, end user and other documentation needed to facilitate shipments.

  4. Execute on strategic projects in close coordination and collaboration with the global TradeOps team.

  5. Support the Regional TradeOps Manager on import and export classification reviews.

  6. In partnership with the Regional TradeOps Manager, maintain required import and export documentation in accordance with relevant laws and corporate policy.

  7. In coordination with the Regional TradeOps Manager, perform import and export compliance reviews and post-entry audits.

  8. Serve as the primary trainer by which we execute new hire onboarding for the TradeOps team in the North American region.

  9. In partnership with Regional TradeOps Manager, develop and deliver trade compliance trainings for and to business teams.

  10. In coordination with the Regional TradeOps Manager, review compliance processes in North American region to streamline operational procedures and drive efficiencies.

  11. Monitor and interpret regulatory changes in region and update business teams.

  12. Willingness to do all necessary tasks to get the job done. At Facebook, nothing is someone else’s problem.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree

  2. 4+ years experience in global trade compliance, with emphasis on North American jurisdictions

  3. Experience handling imports and exports in accordance with North American government regulations

  4. Experience with the use of trade management systems (e.g. Oracle GTM, Amber Road, Agile, One Source) to support trade functions

  5. Experience working with minimal supervision in a collaborative, cross-functional and global team environment

  6. Experience managing operations/projects and building relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Post-graduate degree in business, law, economics, finance or related discipline

  2. Experience at an international trade regulatory authority

  3. Experience operationally supporting a trade program in the high-tech industry

  4. Customs broker license

  5. Experience with consumer electronics, high-tech and/or aerospace industries

  6. Experience with implementation of automated trade solutions and systems

  7. Experience with ticketing systems
