Meta Associate General Counsel, Security Legal in Dublin, Ireland

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated associate general counsel to work on Meta’s EMEA Security Legal Team to support security, safety, integrity and regulatory matters in the region.As the ideal candidate, you would bring substantial experience dealing with data disclosure and integrity issues as they impact social media providers and other technology companies. This should include a strong grasp of the regulatory landscape in the region, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Digital Services Act (DSA) and prospective e-Evidence Regulation. You should be able to work effectively both independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder cross-functional teams. Required Skills:

Associate General Counsel, Security Legal Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and advise business and product partners on legal obligations relating to data disclosure, platform safety and integrity

  2. Provide advice and support the processing of legal requests for user data, and manage the litigation of matters implicating user data preservation and disclosure in criminal investigations and civil matters

  3. Develop and implement effective policies for processing legal requests and protecting user data

  4. Support and advise cross-functional teams in implementing, testing, and evaluating safety and integrity compliance controls

  5. Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal and policy legal risks and resolving disputes

  6. Work closely with the company’s safety and security teams to protect the people who use our service from abuse

  7. Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering and others on safety and security matters

  8. Manage effective relationships with key government agencies, regulators, and law enforcement agencies, in close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Qualified to practice law in the UK or Ireland

  2. 8+ years of PQE legal experience, including government, in-house and/or law firm experience

  3. Substantial experience with applicable laws in the region concerning data disclosure, surveillance, online safety and / or integrity

  4. Experience analyzing and reviewing emerging regulations relating to technology companies

  5. Experience handling crisis situations

  6. Direct experience working with regulators or law enforcement authorities

  7. Experience navigating cross-functional teams and dynamics, prioritizing competing project timelines

  8. Ability to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving company and team environment

  1. Experience providing guidance to internal stakeholders in responding to law enforcement, civil, or third-party user data requests

  2. Strong understanding of human rights considerations for technology companies and, in particular, considerations around data disclosure and surveillance

  3. Experience dealing with data disclosure and surveillance laws applicable to US service providers – including the Stored Communications Act, Wiretap Act, Pen Register/Trap and Trace Statute

  4. Additional language skills - including Arabic or French
