Facebook Manager, Rotational Network Engineering in Dublin, Ireland

Summary:

Facebook is looking for talented, highly motivated engineers for our Network Engineering teams. As a leader on this team, you will work alongside experienced Backbone, Datacenter, Performance and Automation engineers and engineering managers. Your primary function will be to build, lead and support a pipeline of network engineering with zero to four years experience. You will organise and lead campus visits and onsite interviews. You will work with each of our network engineering and program management teams to discover and scope projects that constitute a good learning experience for Rotational Network Engineers as well as providing value to the Network Engineering organisation. You will work with each of our Rotational Network Engineers to ensure they work on impactful projects and build experience to attain long term success at Facebook.

Required Skills:

  1. Build a rotational plan for each team member with technical leads and mentors from Network Infrastructure, Backbone, and Datacenter Engineering.

  2. Responsible for people management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.

  3. Enable and unblock engineers through coaching, learning, and mentorship programs.

  4. Build training curriculum for the team

  5. Focus on building and growing a strong and productive team of Network Engineers that can be impactful across multiple networking disciplines.

  6. Develop and manage work plans from recruiting, to mentor and task selection to team assignment.

  7. Manage and grow multi-disciplinary recruiting plans across universities and industry.

  8. Establish and foster strong working relationships with various stakeholders and teams.

  9. Manage expectations of all interested parties: define clear program roadmap with key deliverables and milestone dates, maintain program information wiki pages, and identify and communicate risks and adjustments to the overall program to meet recruitment demands from NetEng teams.

  10. Understand network product delivery as well as be an effective people manager.

  11. Influence Network Infrastructure teams for their buy in to the program, obtain agreement to provide mentors and projects and to consider rotational engineers as one of their hiring pipelines

  12. Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience

  2. Experience managing an engineering team

  3. 4+ years of Networking, System Administration or Software Engineering experience

  4. 4+ years of experience working with networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS, etc.

  5. 4+ years experience program management

  6. Experience with Linux/Unix

  7. Analytical and troubleshooting skills
