Facebook Communications Lead, Blue App Product EMEA in London, United Kingdom

Summary:

The EMEA communications org is looking for someone to join the central comms team as Blue App Comms Lead for 9-12 months on a maternity cover contract. This involves managing a team of four, and driving proactive, scalable campaigns designed to enhance the reputation of the Facebook app in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The role has a particular focus on creating campaigns designed to cut through the noise on News Feed & Stories (e.g. algorithmic transparency) News (e.g. new news programmes) Integrity (e.g. false news) and Well-being (e.g. screen time, problematic use). This person is also responsible for handling communications around product launches, ranking changes and relevant industry events.

The ideal candidate will excel at working cross-functionally, quickly developing strong relationships many internal stakeholders from partnerships, policy, marketing, product and research. They’ll be empathetic and internationally-minded, and able to scale ideas and comms support to the 100+ countries in the EMEA region. As this role also manages some thorny issues, they’ll be a problem-solver, and passionate about finding clear answers to complex problems.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage four people (three full-time ICs and one extern) in the EMEA Blue App comms team

  2. Create and drive proactive, scalable comms campaigns focused on the Blue App with a particular focus on News Feed & Stories, News, Integrity and Well-being

  3. Provide comms support and counsel to the EMEA News Partnerships team

  4. Lead executive communications for Jesper Doub, Director, News Partnerships, EMEA

  5. Develop and train spokespeople, manage a range of speaking opportunities in EMEA

  6. Work closely with communications leads across EMEA to deliver campaigns

  7. Work closely with internal stakeholders including cross-functional partners from partnerships, policy, marketing, product and research

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent

  2. 10+ years' professional experience in communications or public relations

  3. Experience managing communications crisis and issues

  4. Excellent communications, project management and decision-making skills

  5. Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  6. Have led a team/ managed people
