Required Skills:

Software Engineer - WebRTC Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand features, operation, and specify enhancements.

  2. Optimizing and improving video codec efficiency, encode rate control, speed, video, pre/post-processing and error resilience.

  3. Debugging and diagnosing quality of end-to-end video experience on lossy networks in real-time communication scenarios.

  4. Define the video optimization roadmap for both low-end and high-end networks and devices across surfaces (2D and MR).

  5. Lead the definition and implementation of media processing pipelines.

  6. Identify areas of performance, quality and reliability improvement across the stack

  7. Design, develop, test, and deploy real-time communication services and applications.

  8. Collaborate closely with both the research and product team to deploy new technologies including augmenting systems and algorithms to make them robust to shipping scenarios

  9. Work in close partnership with Meta’s Remote Presence platform that powers Messenger and Instagram to deliver more immersive experiences for the metaverse.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience in C/C++ multithreaded programming

  2. Experience with WebRTC and SFU and MCU architectures

  3. Experience using/adapting/extending the libwebrtc C++ code

  4. Good understanding of video and audio compression techniques

  5. Good understanding of media/data transport (RTP, RTCP, SCTP, ICE, UDP, QUIC, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Hands-on experience of improving performance, reliability and quality of WebRTC based stacks.

  2. Experience with frameworks such GStreamer or ffmpeg.

  3. Understanding of signalling concepts and familiarity with traditional VoIP applications (SIP).

  4. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
