As a Technical Program Manager Intern, you will play a key role within infrastructure engineering, driving huge projects that span the organisation.
Our team is comprised of varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new grads to industry veterans. Relevant experience is important, but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. Facebook's infrastructure is constantly redefining what is possible, and we need technical program managers that can do the same.
This is 12 week summer internship position based in one of our main offices in London, UK.
Manage cross-functional infrastructure projects in a matrix organisation covering a range of areas with emphasis on the backbone subsea optical network
Develop and manage end-to-end project plans from project concept stage through procurement and system construction to capacity turn-up, ensuring on-time delivery and service
Provide hands-on program management support during subsea project life-cycle phases including concept analysis, design, development, construction, installation, testing, and post implementation phases including capacity turn-up
Manage program risk and changes with all projects providing regular visibility to the cross-functional team with the progress
Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks, managing dependencies and handoffs effectively and optimizing schedules
Interface with Planning, Engineering and Business/Project stakeholders for overall end-end project requirements and scope
Pursuing a B.S. or MS. (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or in a related technical discipline
Basic knowledge and skills for gathering requirements and defining scope
Ability to operate autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrate critical thinking, and thought leadership
Communication skills and skills working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
Coordination and multi-tasking experiences
Analytical and problem-solving experiences
Experiences establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners, sometimes in different time zones
Basic technical knowledge of fiber optic systems
Experience with basic tools
