The AR/VR team at Facebook is helping more people around the world come together and connect through world-class VR hardware and software. The mission for the AR/VR Discovery and Distribution team is to grow VR engagement by creating a healthy two-sided ecosystem for content producers and our users. We enable people to discover amazing VR apps, games, events, and experiences that connect people and keep them coming back into VR.
This is a full stack team that owns the Oculus Home Feed, Store, Engagement and Recommendations, Notifications, Web, Content Engines and Ranking. You will have an opportunity to impact millions of users as they discover VR for the first time.
As a Software Engineer on the AR/VR Discovery and Distribution team, you will build the backend infrastructure that powers our experiences in VR and through our mobile apps. You will have the opportunity to build scalable and high performance backend systems. We are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity and building performant platforms that scale through multiple orders of magnitude.
Design core, backend software components
Code using primarily PHP and Hack, C++, Python
Conduct design and code reviews
Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources
Work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale back-end services
Build report interfaces, data feeds, monitoring and alerting
2+ years experience building large-scale server applications
2+ years coding experience in C, C++, Java, PhP
B.S. in Computer Science or related field
Experience with PHP and C++
Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, programming language design, compilers, databases
