Summary:

Facebook's AR/VR organization brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and platform.

The Technical Operations team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow the AR/VR Org to deliver products to market at scale. The Automation Engineering Manager will drive the development and deployment of hardware test systems with manufacturing partners and third-party integrators.

You will be heavily involved in troubleshooting software issues on test equipment and automation systems. You will help define overall product test strategy, evaluate test equipment and qualification processes, and lead and facilitate integration of test systems into our existing data tracking networks and factory control systems. You will be designing and documenting new manufacturing equipment with standardization and reliability as a priority and creating test plans for validating existing equipment.

You have a deep level of experience in advanced electrical design, bring-up, troubleshooting, and failure analysis. You have a natural talent for visualizing, creating, and building opto-electronic solutions to complex challenges.

You are comfortable working with schematic capture, board design, and spice. You also enjoy working hands-on with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and logic analyzers to bring up new parts and troubleshooting existing electrical assemblies. You are able to code proficiently to automate assemblies. You also understand the mechanical, and optical devices within machine vision systems, and are able to contribute in some of these fields as needed.

A successful candidate is comfortable seeking out and interacting closely with project stakeholders. You are skilled at authoring robust assembly and process documentation. You are also adept at creating and adhering to production schedules and driving outside vendors and partners to do the same.

Required Skills:

  1. Work with the Automation team on fixture and automation system development

  2. Create complete mechatronic solutions beginning with a problem statement

  3. Drive analysis and deployment of solutions in factory environments

  4. Coordinate between machine shops, third party fixture vendors, and fixture DRIs

  5. Develop new assembly documentation and calibration procedures

  6. Review existing assemblies to improve reliability and throughput

  7. Verify program logic by overseeing data prep, test and debugging of programs

  8. Work directly with the test engineers providing guidance and support as necessary in test methods, equipment, and test set-ups

  9. Coordination of and travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or MS degree in engineering or related field

  2. 5+ years of experience in consumer electronic product development & volume manufacturing

  3. 5+ years of experience in design and implementation of technology test calibration algorithms: display/optics/tracking/sensors/camera
