Facebook Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer, Brain Computer Interface Team in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

We are looking for an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to join our Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) team in Menlo Park, CA. In this role, you would work closely with researchers as part of a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team (e.g. mechanical, electrical, optical, and software) to design, build, test, and maintain novel wearable neural interface technologies. Our research is focused on developing functional brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies for use in consumer electronic products. Our team collaborates extensively with small companies and academic institutions, and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.

Required Skills:

  1. Design, develop and test embedded systems software and firmware (including kernel, drivers, etc.)

  2. Work closely with software and hardware engineers, participating in design/code reviews

  3. Collaborate with and/or oversee external hardware and software vendors to develop specific device drivers

  4. Write maintainable, well-documented code for drivers and related tooling, along with test cases

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

  2. 3+ years of experience in embedded systems software and firmware development for Linux based consumer electronics

  3. C/C++, Python, and assembly coding experience

  4. Knowledge of real-time systems and computer architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with DSP programming

  2. Experience with image sensor bringup

  3. Experience with JTAG debugging

  4. FPGA programming (Verilog/VHDL) experience

  5. Some experience with data visualization
