We’re looking for a Head of Business Development to help us conceive and execute partnership strategy and drive our efforts to expand the utility of Facebook’s location services. You will collaborate closely with the Location Infrastructure and Spatial Computing product teams to nurture and grow new partnership opportunities in location, mapping, spatial computing, and places data licensing. These opportunities will span the globe and include both SMBs and large enterprises as potential partners. You will manage a small team to support location-related products and services and strengthen all levels of our location and mapping stack. You have technical expertise, a strategic perspective on both, product and partnership development, the ability to negotiate both externally and internally to close a contract, the chops to run a deal, and the patience to manage and grow a team and teach these skills to others. You bring simplicity to complex issues, not the reverse. You’re very familiar with contractual, technical, and financial issues and you can effectively communicate both up and down a management ladder. You are excited by the challenge of structuring custom agreements and new templates for location initiatives and nurturing our relationships with existing partners. Additionally, you enjoy a team-oriented environment, working cross-functionally with the product, engineering, marketing, operations, policy and legal teams to develop new ways to drive the growth of Facebook’s location products and services.
Lead customized technical integration agreement structuring and negotiation with our location and mapping partners
Provide a strategic perspective to product and engineering teams, delivering critical business insights and launching initiatives that impact the market
Work alongside product managers and partnerships managers to develop new location services, mapping technologies, and places data to improve all Facebook products that rely on location data
Research the location and mapping landscape in target markets, and how these landscapes relate to our product priorities, to choose and sequence the best partners for our products
Manage cross-functional teams to identify and creatively solve complex operational, regulatory, and legal issues
Supervise and drive decision-making on all agreement mechanics, launch partners post-deal and where necessary, transition those partners to the partner management teams
International travel required (between 15%-30% depending on project status)
BS or BA Degree
10+ years of international business development experience – knowledge in commercial agreements and experience creating and negotiating agreements outside of standard sales contracts
Demonstrated cross-functional communication and relationship building experience with technical teams, lawyers, and marketers
Experience in location or mapping companies or supporting those product groups in companies and knowledge of indoor mapping, satellite, and spatial computing
Engineering, MBA or JD degrees
15+ years of experience managing partners, strategizing collaboratively, and structuring and negotiating complex agreements
5+ years experience hiring new employees, managing direct reports, and executing as a team
