Focusing on driving WhatsApp’s product strategy and brand, the WhatsApp Marketing team invests in growing awareness and usage of WhatsApp’s most loved and useful features, and maintaining WhatsApp’s trusted brand. We're seeking a leader for Marketing Decision Science who will build and lead a team of Decision Scientists responsible for harnessing and translating strategic insights into actionable marketing plans and measuring the ROI of all marketing initiatives. This role will help define consumer problems, define goals and metrics, help develop marketing strategies and plans, build learning and measurement plans, design and execute experimentation, and optimize marketing to efficiently achieve our business objectives. The ideal candidate will also have a strong stakeholder management and leadership track record, proven hands-on experience in data manipulation and a hunger to make significant business impact by owning and driving business outcomes.

This is a full-time position based with the WhatsApp team at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, California and will report to WhatsApp’s Global Head of Marketing.

Required Skills:

  1. Hire and develop a team of Data/Decision scientists

  2. Partner with marketing, research and product organizations to drive brand and product strategies, especially at the leadership level

  3. Develop WhatsApp's methodology for understanding and measuring marketing effectiveness on business objectives

  4. Drive the development of quantitative analysis, ad hoc reports, and models to support marketing decision making. Analysis areas might include (but not limited to): retention, lifetime value, messaging, promotions, perceptions, usage and engagement

  5. Design and execute experiments to achieve marketing objectives and drive marketing effectiveness

  6. Partner with Engineers and Engineering leadership to define data and tracking requirements for marketing initiatives

  7. Translate data insights into actions and recommendations. Core focus will be on marketing and communications strategy and plans, at both a brand and product level, but will also include new product development

  8. Produce visuals (charts, infographics) and presentations to clearly and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders and leadership

  9. Analyze and maintain marketing metrics to identify cause-effect relationships between marketing actions and behavioral & attitudinal outcomes

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 12+ years of experience with data analytics

  2. 6+ years of experience leading analytics or data science teams

  3. Proven experience in leading data-driven projects from definition to execution, driving and influencing product and marketing roadmaps

  4. Statistical and data analysis/modeling experience (e.g. significance testing, regression modeling, etc.)

  5. Direct experience working with large data-sets

  6. Experience using SAS, R or similar statistical packages

  7. Experience with Python, Hadoop, Hive & SQL

  8. Presentation experience and a proven track record of using insights to influence executives and colleagues

  9. Experience communicating both technical product language and brand/product marketing language

  10. Knowledge of survey research methods and considerations

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's or Doctorate degree in psychology, statistics, economics, behavioral or social science or a related quantitative field, or MBA or management consulting experience
