Summary:

Oculus is shaping the future of consumer electronics and the emerging Virtual Reality industry. As a Packaging Designer at Oculus, you will help bring the next generation of virtual reality hardware and experiences to life. You bring strategic problem solving and industry leading hands-on design skills to create delightful, holistically considered packaging. You have extensive experience designing and shipping consumer product packaging and are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams.

Required Skills:

  1. Design category-defining packaging experiences for Facebook’s AR/VR Hardware business, delivering a seamless & memorable first brand touchpoint for our consumers.

  2. Define unboxing experience from purchase to set-up, developing ID considered layouts that optimize for physical-to-digital flow.

  3. Develop the visual and physical language of our brand through the design of our packaging portfolio, considering product presentation, materiality, tonality, and print, and manufacturing.

  4. Bring user-centric thinking and excellent aesthetic sensibility to align packaging with brand, retail, and customer needs.

  5. Work closely with User Research teams to uncover packaging insights and test concept performance against demanding product goals.

  6. Collaborate with Creative Marketing to ensure harmonious integration of 2D and 3D assets.

  7. Work collaboratively with ID & HW Engineering teams on complex technical programs in a fast-paced environment.

  8. Conceive elegant, effective ways to address technical engineering challenges and complex shipping requirements.

  9. Lead/own design projects with internal and external resources.

  10. Ability to travel (Up to 20%).

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design (3D) or a related field.

  2. 5+ years of experience as an industrial designer, developing consumer packaging or 3D/physical brand experiences.

  3. 2+ years experience leading design projects and directing development activities.

  4. Experience in exploration and refinement of ideas through prototyping.

  5. Experience in 3D CAD modeling packages (SolidWorks, NX, Rhino).

  6. Problem solving and collaboration experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Artios CAD.
