Facebook Manager, Office Technology Deployment - Technical Operations in Menlo Park, California

Facebook's Enterprise Engineering Office Technology Deployment (OTD) team is responsible for the advanced planning, deployment and turn-up of office technology in all of the Facebook offices around the globe. This includes circuits, network gear, cellular network infrastructure, audio visual and video conferencing systems, printers, digital wayfinding, production events spaces, specialty demo spaces, and more. We are part of the design and oversight processes, and ensure the effective deployment of innovative spaces that help drive collaboration and communication company wide. We are currently looking for an experienced, insightful individual to manage the Technical Operations arm of the OTD team, called OTD TechOps. Reporting to the Office Technology Deployment Advance Planning manager, the OTD TechOps Manager is responsible for the delivery of our Technical efforts. This includes in-building cellular systems, data center build projects, and our global connectivity procurement and execution programs. The position is seen as an EE leader and will be a people management role, therefore strong interpersonal skills are a must. In this position, it is expected the person will understand the basics of enterprise communications technology as well as the EE OTD environment in order to ensure alignment with cross-functional partners, as well as drive execution and efficiencies within the team. This position is part of the EE Organization, as such candidates must be passionate about technology, live for amazing customer service and have the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Required Skills:

  1. Manages the Technical Operations staff for the OTD team. This includes three data center Technical Program Managers, and two other Program Managers for our connectivity programs.

  2. Anticipate future growth and advises on resource needs while ensure TechOps staffing is matched with project load.

  3. Drives goal setting for OTD TechOps and ensures measurements are in place for tracking performance against goals.

  4. Effective management and prioritization of all build escalations and works with appropriate teams to see issues through to end resolution.

  5. Establish strong relationships with our company-wide partners on execution, sourcing, Connectivity Labs, finance, facilities, and more.

  6. Understand roadmaps and applications and own resolution to gaps in services.

  7. Performs service reviews with reports and cross-functional partners and use data from service reviews to identify trends, opportunities for efficiencies and gaps in service.

  8. Responsible for solving issues, driving enhancements, and improving support for all TechOps functions, including project execution, financial management, workflows.

  9. Develop, coordinate and lead local and worldwide Enterprise Engineering projects and initiatives.

  10. Drive communication and priority within the business and global teams to ensure consistency across the organization.

  11. Oversee equipment and resource lifecycles while budgeting for refreshes on a global scale.

  12. Build and maintain global relationships on behalf of Facebook with Mobile Network Operators, Wireline Telecommunication Companies, Cellular Equipment Manufacturers, and more.

  13. Ability to travel 30%+.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

  2. 7+ years of engineering or technical product/program management experience.

  3. 2+ years of experience as a People Manager.

  4. Experience managing an organization of program or product managers, including building and growing the team.

  5. Experience moving technical or engineering programs and products from inception to delivery, and experience articulating the impact using metrics, growth examples, return, etc.

  6. Experience structuring an organization that optimizes for execution, including attracting talent and building out gaps in the existing team.

  7. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.

  8. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.

  9. Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.

  10. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strong technical, leadership, or program management experience in Cellular Networks, Wireline Communications, and/or Data Center Operations
