Required Skills:

Performance and Capacity Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for scaling Meta's web capacity and identifying capacity-related issues.

  2. Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure, which encompasses tens of billions of user requests, hundreds of peta bytes of data, and thousands of giga bps of network flow.

  3. Tackle the state of the art hardware performance issues as well as analyze and debug difficult machine learning workload performance issues (latest in industry), identify bottlenecks, and optimize product/service performance to improve user experience.

  4. Solve the hardest software performance issues by working with software developers to improve machine learning model base performance (e.galgorithm redesign), and reduce resource consumption and shorten request latency by deploying state of the art techniques in deep learning and statistical modeling.

  5. Plan the largest server and datacenter capacity and own and drive overall Meta capacity planning work for all different products/services and recommend DC expansion plan.

  6. Develop tools to monitor billions of user requests by writing monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to do performance and capacity and related tests and analysis.

  7. Provide the deepest visibility to what is going on for all products.

  8. Run capacity and performance experiments to determine scaling and utilization parameters for various service tiers.

  9. Present performance and capacity roadmaps for critical project and cost analyses in presentation and written form monthly to executive teams.

  10. Work with financial analysts, operations and engineering to perform cutting-edge technologies investigation and cost analysis.

  11. Work with systems, network, application operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field and two years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupationRequires two years of experience in the following:

  2. C, C++, or Python

  3. Performance tuning, benchmarking and modeling

  4. Building large, highly-scalable performant solutions

  5. Technical Presentation Skills

  6. Workload characterization using time series analysis and anomaly detection

  7. Developing simulation models for design and evaluation of novel algorithms for server workloads

  8. Design and evaluate experiments to monitor key product metrics, root cause analysis for change in metrics and

  9. Design data analytic pipelines and dashboards

Public Compensation:

$234,482/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
