Meta Postdoctoral Researcher, Artificial Intelligence (PhD) in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Meta AI Systems team is seeking strong Postdoctoral Researcher candidates to work on applied research on training efficiency, scalability, stability for large scale Deep Neural Networks (DNN), with a focus on content ranking and recommendation systems (RecSys). Our team supports the research and development of a wide range of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques. It provides internal platforms and tools to train and deploy some of the most advanced machine learning models for all Meta products.A Postdoctoral Researcher at AI Systems typically works as an applied researcher and engineer, solving some of the most challenging and interesting problems in the training process of large, complex DNN models. The specific research area may include:1. The application of Graph Learning in recommendation systems. 2. Performance optimization for large scale sequential models in content ranking. 3. Parameter Efficiency Fine Tuning of large language models and transformer models. 4. General improvement of the training process of DNNs, in terms of efficiency and reliability.For this position, the applicant will engage with the supervisor and other researchers, engineers to implement research agenda, publish world-class research works, and make impacts on some key Meta products. You will be able to gain valuable experience in an industry-leading organization, solving real-world problems, and advance SotA.

  1. Perform research to advance the science and technology of Machine Learning, especially in the area of RecSys

  2. Collaborate with your supervisor and other researchers + engineers to develop research plan targeting real world problems with high impact.

  3. Adopt State of the Art Machine Learning techniques to improve Meta products

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in Computer Science or a similar field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  2. Research background in Machine Learning, Recommendation Systems, Natural Language Processing, Optimization, or similar field.

  3. Experience communicating research, e.g., published peer-reviewed papers with oral presentation

  4. Experience coding in Python, C/C++, C#, or other similar language.

  5. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

  6. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  1. First-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences (ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, CoRL, ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, or similar).

  2. Research and engineering experience demonstrated via grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, and/or coding competitions.

  3. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, trade-offs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

  4. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + benefits
