Facebook Privacy Incidents Paralegal in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Facebook seeks an experienced, highly motivated paralegal to work on Facebook’s legal privacy incident response team advising the company on a range of privacy, data protection and security-related legal and compliance initiatives for Facebook, Inc., including Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Facebook Financial, and other Facebook products. You will be joining the world’s leading data breach response program. This position requires business acumen, strong collaborative skills, excellent communication, and substantive knowledge of global privacy breach laws. This role also requires flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with working on numerous projects simultaneously, with varied stakeholders, often under high pressure with global visibility. You will be working on industry leading and cutting edge projects, ensuring commitment to privacy and managing our compliance with applicable privacy breach laws and regulations. A successful candidate is excited by taking on and leading complex privacy projects (especially breach response), thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish bold things. You must also be a self-starter, able to identify issues early and drive to resolution independently.

Required Skills:

  1. Work cross-functionally with partners throughout Facebook to ensure privacy incidents are properly identified, investigated, and remediated

  2. Monitor regulatory notifications are coordinated, synchronized, and executed

  3. Draft and monitor investigative reports

  4. Executive communications (executive summaries and talking points)

  5. Manage Regulatory notices (notifications to regulators and individuals regarding privacy incidents)

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of relevant paralegal experience

  2. 3+ years of legal and/or paralegal experience

  3. Experience in privacy breach response, privacy compliance (including monitoring, testing, oversight), privacy investigations (internal and/or regulatory), or privacy litigation

  4. Experience drafting executive communications or regulatory documents

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Degree, MBA, or Law Degree

  2. A self-starter with strong communication and drafting skills who can work collaboratively with cross-functional partners (e.g., legal, privacy, policy, regulatory and engineering) across the organization

  3. Experience working with data breach response (experience in complex litigation may be an acceptable substitute for an otherwise exceptional candidate)

  4. Familiarity with global data breach laws and regulations (e.g., US, GDPR, LGPD, etc.)

  5. Experience supporting privacy, investigative regulatory and compliance matters, and driving remediation activities
