Facebook Privacy Policy Manager, Engagement in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Facebook is looking for a highly motivated, well organized team player to join our growing global privacy and public policy team. The successful candidate will be an interface between external stakeholders and Facebook on privacy issues central to Facebook’s overall goals. The ideal candidate will have a background in privacy, have a credible track record of building consensus and driving successful outcomes, and be comfortable working on technology policy issues. Candidates should be accomplished at building and managing relationships with policy-makers and regulators, have a strong experience in developing and drafting comments and other materials for regulators, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to work on novel public policy issues in an exciting environment.

This is a full-time position based in either our Washington, DC or our Menlo Park, California offices.

Required Skills:

  1. Act as direct support to the Director of Privacy Policy Engagement (US), working closely with a cross-functional global team on privacy matters

  2. Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with trade associations, think tanks, privacy regulators and key policymakers on substantive privacy policy matters

  3. Identify & monitor privacy policy trends of importance for the company

  4. Develop the appropriate strategies, liaising and communicating with cross-functional teams as appropriate

  5. Work with the broader policy team to provide an external engagement perspective when analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals concerning privacy, data security and related technology issues

  6. Work with cross-functional teams to develop and articulate the company's positions on key privacy and data protection issues in the form of internal briefing documents, position papers, and related documents

  7. Design and execute strategies for buy-in and adoption from external stakeholders

  8. Design and execute high impact policy strategies and programmatic initiatives

  9. Advise on the privacy policy implications of new products and features

  10. Represent Facebook at meetings and conferences

  11. Execute events for stakeholder groups

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience in privacy and technology policy issues with proven track record

  2. Knowledge in technologies and devices and of Facebook products

  3. Knowledge of data protection and privacy legislative and policy issues

  4. Demonstrated experience in finding solution to business issues and provide business-focused advice

  5. Links to articles/videos/media interviews which demonstrate their track record in this field

  6. Proven experience in working collaboratively to gain support for their outcomes

  7. Knowledge in at least one area, including: Blockchain, AR/VR, AI/ML

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Fluency in English

  2. Experience in lobbying

  3. Experience working with a web 2.0 or social networking company on privacy issues

  4. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make sound judgments under tight deadlines
