Spark AR enables a global community of creators and developers to imagine, create and share augmented reality experiences that reach the billions of people using the Facebook family of apps and devices. Spark AR includes Spark AR Studio, our flagship creation software suite that makes building AR experiences more intuitive and customizable. And Spark AR Hub, a powerful tool for publishing, managing and tracking the performance of AR experiences across platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
We are looking for an experienced and talented AR/VR Product Designer to conceptualize, illustrate, build and deliver innovative interaction paradigms. You will be expected to independently sketch, design, previz, animate, prototype, script and execute. A self-motivated problem solver with impeccable communication skills, you are known as a positive contributor with a collaborative attitude.
You will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from conceptualizing the next generation of our AR platform to designing incremental features. Working with Product Management and Engineering teams, you’ll tackle hard questions relating to core interactions, platform design and user interface patterns for AR today and for the future. You will be expected to use your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills to create richer, deeper, and more valuable experiences for hundreds of millions of people using our platform every month.
The ideal candidate should also have a strong ability to take ambiguous problems and create clear and articulate frameworks for how to tackle them.
This position is full-time and based in Menlo Park.
Conceptualize and iterate on high-quality designs, build end-to-end flows and visuals and individually contribute to the product/feature set and to help communicate ideas
Give and solicit real-time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, content strategist & QA, overseeing the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as post-launch design support
Document processes and methodology to help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams
Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
Contribute to defining interaction patterns for the MobileAR product space
Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
Help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams
Bachelor's degree in Design related field or experience
Experience communicating ideas and designs to multiple stakeholders
Experience in problem solving within the product space
Experience crafting 3D and 2D interactive design prototypes
Experience using 3D and 2D art creation software like Cinema4D, Maya, Photoshop, Sketch and Illustrator
A portfolio featuring both visual and interaction works
Design skills and the proven ability to manage and lead in cross-functional environments
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, interior design or industrial design, interactive design, game design
5+ years experience shipping immersive and compelling experiences
1+ years mobile AR or contextual camera experience
Experience designing for diverse groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.)
