Meta Production Engineering Manager, Rotational Network Engineering (RNE) Program in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Meta’s Rotational Network Engineering (RNE) Program finds, hires, and develops full-time engineers to join our Network teams worldwide. As a Production Engineering Manager for the program, you will lead, shape, and expand the team across North America — partnering with experienced Backbone, Datacenter, Performance, and Automation engineers, engineering managers, and organizational leaders.Your primary function will be hiring, leading, and supporting network engineers with zero to four years of experience until they join a permanent team in the Network — evolving the methodology we use to grow RNEs during the program. Our philosophy is “learn by doing”; therefore, you will work with various network engineering teams to discover and scope projects that constitute a good learning experience for Rotational Network Engineers and provide value to the broader Network Engineering organization.This is a highly cross-functional role. You will shape and lead our recruitment efforts in the region, partnering with the recruitment team to find suitable candidates for the program.You will support each of our Rotational Network Engineers in North America to help them achieve long-term success at Meta.

Required Skills:

Production Engineering Manager, Rotational Network Engineering (RNE) Program Responsibilities:

  1. Build a plan for each team member with technical leads and mentors from Network Infrastructure, Backbone, and Datacenter Engineering.

  2. Establish and foster strong working relationships with various stakeholders and teams within Network Infra.

  3. Manage and grow multi-disciplinary recruiting plans across universities and industries.

  4. Develop and manage work plans from recruiting, mentoring, task selection, and team assignment.

  5. Manage expectations of all interested parties: define a clear program roadmap with critical deliverables and milestone dates, maintain program information wiki pages, and identify and communicate risks and adjustments to the overall program to meet recruitment demands from NetEng teams.

  6. Understand network product delivery as well as be an influential people manager.

  7. Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees.

  8. Influence Network Infrastructure teams for their buy-in to the program, obtain agreement to provide mentors and projects, and consider rotational engineers as one of their hiring pipelines.

  9. Enable and unblock engineers through coaching, learning, and mentorship programs.

  10. Responsible for people management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching, and career growth for direct reports.

  11. Build a training curriculum for the team.

  12. Focus on building and growing a solid and productive team of Network Engineers that can be impactful across multiple networking disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience managing an engineering team.

  2. B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience.

  3. 4+ years of Networking, System Administration, Software Engineering, or Product Development experience.

  4. Familiarity with source control, software development cycles, and practices.

  5. Analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  6. Experience with launching and iterating on products, services, tools, or technical frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 4+ years of experience working with networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS, etc.

  2. Knowledge of behavioral economics is desired but not essential.

  3. Experience with Linux/Unix.

  4. 2+ years experience in program management or product management.

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
