Facebook Robotics System Engineer in Menlo Park, California
Facebook is seeking an engineer of Robotics and Autonomous Systems to join our Site Engineering Robotics Team. This person will be responsible for implementing software solutions for the mobile robotics program.
Work in the software engineering team to develop robotic industrial solutions
Take on challenging problems in user interfaces, data communication and processing, hardware sensing enablement, robot localization, navigation, and obstacle avoidance
Solidify and stabilize core robot functionality, including sensing, controls, uptime, and network communications
Accountable for technology solution delivery through requirements review, feature design, development, quality assurance, and production release
Actively manage issues, risk and schedule throughout the project and participation in usability test activities
Actively collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize design, ensure functionality, support software production tool training and documentations
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
Experience with characterizing and evaluating electromechanical systems
Experience analyzing problems, identifying constraints and boundaries to develop solution options
Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Experience using case, articulating requirements, challenging design and quality
MS or above degrees in Computer Science or related technical field
Able to work full-stack (UI, back-end, ROS, etc.)
Experience with robotic platforms such as ROS
Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas: Robot localization and navigation, Robot control system (position, velocity, force control), Computer vision and imaging, or SLAM, Robot arm control, Facebook back-end SW system (Thrift, Tupperware, fbcode, Scuba, etc.), Linux and networking, Production engineering
Familiar with data analysis tools and/or experience working with data analysts
Experience scaling solutions, demonstrating a mindset of "scalability"
Knowledge of robotic manufacturing practice and quality system
