Facebook Technical Artist in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Oculus is looking for someone to join us as a Technical Artist. You will be part of the team that supports Oculus's growing portfolio of products and features. As a Technical Artist, you will be involved in every aspect of the creative development and production process - from conceptualizing and executing new ideas, to designing incremental features and capabilities in our products. The Technical Artist will assist a collaborative, cross-functional team of product designers, artists, engineers, product managers, and producers and needs to be excited by the opportunity to provide support with complicated technical issues.

This position is full-time and based in Menlo Park, CA.

Required Skills:

  1. Partner with Product Designers, Producers, PMs, Engineers, Researchers, Content Strategists and QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from conception to launch, provide post-launch support as needed

  2. Design, manage, and maintain the production pipeline from the artists through to deployment

  3. Be well-versed in various lighting techniques and instruct the artists in lighting best practices

  4. Optimize content through enhancing performance and instructing the artists on asset creation, modeling, and texturing best practices

  5. Give, and solicit real-time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product

  6. Collaborate with engineers to develop and test new features, prototype shader code, and provide useful feedback during testing phases

  7. Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience working on shipped titles in the gaming or film industries

  2. A link to an online portfolio or demo reel showcasing similar work (Include link on your resume)

  3. Experience implementing assets in real-time engines, such as Unity3D or Unreal

  4. Experience with Maya and/or Houdini

  5. Experience rigging in Maya

  6. Experience with content creation software including Photoshop, ZBrush/Mudbox, Substance Painter

  7. Shader programming experience

  8. Scripting experience with MEL, Python, C#, JavaScript and C++
