Instagram is looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive engineering programs designed to help protect the information shared by billions of people. We work across all of infrastructure and across all layers of the tech stack at the company. As a TPM on Instagram, you will play a critical role across product and engineering teams. You will work to identify key challenges and partner closely with engineers, data scientists, product and policy teams to drive programs that address these challenges. You will play a key role in making our infrastructure more reliable and scalable as we grow.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, adept at collaborating cross-functionally, has experience with large scale systems, and familiarity in the privacy domain. This is a quickly evolving space, and the TPM is expected to be flexible and pivot based on the problems we are trying to solve. This person will be highly organized, productive, poised, and able to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios. This is a full-time position based in the Menlo Park office.
Collaborate with engineering partners to define success criteria, metrics, and the supporting roadmap and achieve the multi-half strategy for your team's domain
Drive the day to day execution of cross-functional infrastructure and privacy engineering programs, including internal process improvements, removing roadblocks, and delivery of projects that meet company mission & goals
Build and maintain relationships and partnerships in a highly dynamic matrix organization covering a range of areas, enabling collaboration, managing dependencies, and driving execution across teams at Instagram and Facebook
Partner with key infrastructure groups, product teams, data scientists, and analysts across the company to drive technical decision making and build scalable, performant, and reliable systems
Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team and partner teams
Roadmap and communicate program updates, risks and new opportunities to leaders and stakeholders, identify dependencies and perform risk/change management on projects
Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment through project planning and strong interpersonal skills
B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience
Interpersonal skills, and track record of bringing teams together for a common goal
Experience delivering large-scale engineering programs or products from inception to delivery
Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope
Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership
Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience
Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems
Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones
Experience with privacy infrastructure and product development
Experience with machine learning and AI detection systems
