Meta Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics) in Milan, Italy

Summary:

At Meta Reality Labs we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected–anytime, anywhere. We are building a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of consumer electronics, luxury goods, and high fashion. Our team will be responsible for taking the breakthrough design of the Ray-Ban Stories glasses and delivering brand specific variants to market, at scale. Based in Milan, the Smart Glasses Italy Design Center will actively participate in concept development, design ideation, and setting product architecture. From there, our team is tasked with executing and validating the range of designs that we develop with our partners in a manner that is consistent with Meta's culture of end-to-end ownership. As a Hardware Design Engineer (Electrical Engineer) on the Smart Glasses team you will design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for our expanding line of smart glasses. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and will include mechanical, industrial design, software/firmware, operations, and manufacturing teams. We want people who work well in teams, can take high level requirements and develop detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and then transition these designs into a high-volume consumer product. We’re looking for system or board level Hardware Design Engineers (Electrical Engineers) with experience in high volume consumer products. These systems will have custom ASICs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, audio, camera sensors, and high speed I/O. Familiarity with CAD tools like Cadence OrCAD, Altium, SPICE, ModelSim, or Xilinx, is required. The ideal candidate would be comfortable designing mixed high-speed digital circuit boards, be experienced troubleshooting at the board and system level, and be familiar with the consumer product development process.
