As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role as a champion of performance across product and engineering, working with multiple teams and disciplines to improve the performance and reliability of the product, deeply understanding and tackling challenges faced by our engineering teams, and driving long term investments in the scalability of our mobile clients.
The right candidate will be an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about mobile product and client infrastructure development, passionate about mobile engineering, comfortable in a flat, fast-moving organization, and eager to collaborate to solve difficult challenges.
This is a full-time position based in our office in New York, with occasional travel to Menlo Park and San Francisco.
Partner closely with engineering leads to evolve Instagram's Performance and Reliability strategy
Drive internal process improvements across teams and functions, to ensure high performance bars are met across the board
Understand tooling and framework gaps faced by our engineering teams, and develop strategies to address them
Help teams understand and balance dependencies between performance, efficiency, and product functionality
Provide day-to-day execution support and guidance for engineering projects
Map dependencies and relationships between projects and teams, coordinating efforts across organizations and verticals
Communicate status and big picture to the stakeholders and leadership
Work independently with minimal supervision
B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience
Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery
Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope
Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership
Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience
Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems
Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones
Technical knowledge and/or experience in:
Android & iOS development
Optimizing software latency and efficiency
Network infrastructure & connectivity
