Summary:

Facebook recently announced (https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2019/01/oversight-board/) its intent to create an Oversight Board to review our most challenging content decisions. While we continue to build out the operational details for this Board (https://fbnewsroomus.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/draft-charter-oversight-board-for-content-decisions-2.pdf), we are looking for a skilled Director of Administration to lead the team that will be responsible for supporting the Oversight Board.

In partnership with Board members and Facebook teams, the Director will be the primary liaison between the Board and Facebook, helping to guide the process by which the Board will hear cases, decide on cases and publish those decisions. In addition, the Director will lead the operations and team supporting the Oversight Board ensuring that it is fully prepared to execute on its mandate.

As the Director, you will work closely with teams across the company, as well as a highly talented and experienced team of subject matter experts on content and product policies. You will be responsible for understanding Facebook policies and operations in order to best support the Board, our company, and the people who use our services. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader, communicator, organizer, and presenter who is able to work across multiple teams across the company.

This is a full-time position located in London or Paris.

Required Skills:

  1. Ensure the Board is capable of executing on its mandate as outlined in the charter.

  2. Facilitate the Board's decision making processes and public sharing of its decisions.

  3. Provide support for Board members in their role.

  4. Serve as a liaison to the Board and a representative of the initiative to internal and external stakeholders.

  5. Build relationships with cross-functional parters in Product, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Marketing, Corporate Communications and Legal to ensure support for and implementation of the Board's decisions.

  6. Organize publication of the Board's case decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS degree

  2. Analytical and problem-solving experience

  3. Communications experience, particularly in the areas of consensus-building and public presentation

  4. Experience managing a team that supports decision-making by an independent committee, board, or judicial body

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Degree in law

  2. Significant work experience in legislation, litigation or policy development

  3. Deep understanding of Facebook and belief in its principles
