FRL Pittsburgh is looking for talented Electrical Engineers to accelerate the progression to authentic social presence in virtual reality. In our current pipeline, a multitude of sensing components, including image sensors, microphones, inertial measurement units, bio-potential sensors, are installed on the headset prototypes in order to collect a rich suite of information that reflects the user's physical state, with an emphasis on modality synchronicity and latency minimization; this information is then processed by our state-of-the-art algorithms to allow for a computational representation of the user. The ideal candidate for this position has experience designing and validating electrical systems involving imaging devices, audio capturing and playback devices, inertial measurement units, etc., with a strong skill set in schematics capture, layout design with high-speed differential signals; a working knowledge of the industry-standard communication protocols would also be crucial. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Collaborate with researchers and engineers cross multiple disciplines.
Propose, implement, and validate electrical and embedded systems to support research activities.
Work with external vendors to define and deliver customized components.
Bachelor's degree in fields related to electrical engineering.
2+ years of Industry experience.
Experience with C or C++ for embedded system development.
Experience with peripheral communication protocols such as MIPI, USB, I2C, UART, SPI and I2S.
Experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and logic analyzers.
Experience in designing circuits with high-speed differential signals.
Hands-on experience with FPGA, CPLD, and micro-controllers.
Experience with industry-standard CAD software such as Altium Designer.
Experience communicating with software engineers to deliver complete systems.
Master's degree or doctorate in fields related to computer or electrical engineering.
Experience with designing, validating, and shipping consumer electronic products.
Hands-on experience with scientific and/or industrial data acquisition pipeline.
Hands-on experience with Cortex M-series controllers and image signal processors.
