We are seeking an experienced leader to join the Product Development team in Redmond, WA. Your job will be to support a world-class, multi-disciplinary team of researchers and development engineers. You will be responsible for operational aspects of a large R&D facility ensuring the teams have the resources and support available to accelerate their efforts. You will manage a team of operators, technicians, and engineers to facilitate the fabrication of early prototypes and low volume builds. The lab will support a host of different technologies in the area of advanced display and packaging technology.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage the operational aspects and equipment for a large R&D facility supporting optical component fabrication, characterization, materials development, and micro/nanofabrication

  2. Responsible for coordinating cleanroom lab build-out, equipment installation and upgrade

  3. Define and enforce safety protocols, ensure compliance with EHS protocols

  4. Establish workflow management system for work-in-progress optimization

  5. Define and coordinate preventative maintenance across equipment and auxiliary tools

  6. Lead the emergency response team for the facility

  7. Responsible for the tool time scheduling, managing productivity improvements, and delivery of prototypes

  8. Responsible for maintaining laboratory stock (substrates, chemicals, consumables, etc.)

  9. Support engineer and research staff in resolving issues within the labs

  10. Work with the site facilities team to address issues affecting labs

  11. Support laboratory training as needed for critical tooling

  12. Able to troubleshoot down equipment and auxiliaries

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5 or more years experience managing a nanofabrication facility (or advanced cleanroom facility) with core responsibilities in operations and facilities

  2. 5 or more years of experience working with high vacuum system operation and maintenance

  3. 5 or more years of experience working in a cleanroom work environment

  4. 5 or more years of experience working with plasma and coating systems

  5. Knowledge with electron beam systems

  6. Knowledge in operational methodologies in R&D and NPI environments

  7. Experience managing vendor and contractor engagements in a leadership position

  8. Experience working in an environment with competing requirements

  9. Experience working in a hands-on fashion to resolve equipment issues prior to pulling in vendor field service

  10. Experience working with optical fabrication and metrology

  11. Experience working in a chemical lab with knowledge of synthesis, purification, and formulation

  12. Knowledge of chemical handling and disposal protocols
