Meta Display Mechanical Integration Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

At Meta Reality Labs (RL), we are developing the future of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) products. As a Display Mechanical Engineer in VR Display Engineering team you will be a member of our RL VR Hardware development organization, taking a lead in display module mechanical design and integration to lead the design and development of leading-edge technologies and shipping products. You will be part of a group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of innovation for our VR products.

Required Skills:

Display Mechanical Integration Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Lead mechanical design, development and engineering of display modules

  2. Work closely with cross functional teams and external display partners to develop and deliver the best in class display modules

  3. Collaborate with internal and external partners, develop and propose optimized module designs for seamless product integration

  4. Review, assess and approve design proposals from partners ensuring performance, quality, reliability and cost goals

  5. Identify and mitigate risks and resolve mechanical issues through various phases of module and product development

  6. Lead the display module FAI and qualification process for engineering builds

  7. Generate, provide, and manage technical documentation including 3D CAD, MCO, ERS, SOP

  8. Travel up to 25% internationally to support design and development activities

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ year of mechanical design and product shipping experience in display module with Ph.D or MS degree, or 7+ year working experience with BS degree, in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field

  2. Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals: properties of materials, solid mechanics, statics, Newtonian physics, and heat transfer

  3. Display module mechanical design with knowledge in front-end display process, back-end module process, manufacturing and product integration

  4. Track-record of ownership in developing and delivering consumer electronics products

  5. Experience to plan and perform DOE, statistical data analysis, yield improvement, root cause investigation with FACA and PA for engineering issues, and FMEA

  1. In-depth understanding of LCD and OLED display module design, components, and integration

  2. Direct working experience with LCD or OLED display vendors

  3. Design and development experience to meet product requirements of display modules and product/system integration

  4. Experience working with display vendors and ecosystem partners

  5. Good understanding of display module level trade-offs with mechanical, optical, electrical performance

  6. Good understanding/experience in back-end module process development for display module with touch sensor, Cover Glass, BackLight module and electrical interconnects

  7. Experience with simulation and analysis methods for structural analysis, thermal analysis, tolerance analysis, test and measurement data analysis

  8. Experience with manufacturing techniques such as injection-molding, machining, die-cutting, forging, etc. and materials such as plastics, metals, glass, etc

  9. Design and prototyping experience in electro-mechanical or mechanical parts for high-volume, reliable products

Public Compensation:

$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
