Meta Electrical Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware Research Engineering team, whose mission is to design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad set of experiences, including embedded design, analog/mixed signal design, or multimodal sensing. The ideal candidate would be comfortable designing mixed high-speed digital circuit boards, be experienced with troubleshooting at the board and system level, and have experience with display driver ICs. They should have the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers with tolerance for a high degree of ambiguity.

Required Skills:

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement electrical engineering solutions for novel, head mounted VR/AR devices that include fabrication and assembly of Printed Circuit Boards, Flexible Printed Circuits, and Rigid Flexible Printed Circuits

  2. Design for the current generations of programmable devices such as DSPs, FPGAs, uControllers, and uProcessors

  3. Develop schematics, guide board layout, assemble, test, debug, and integrate multi-component electrical systems using industry-standard simulation and design packages such as SPICE, MATLAB, Altium or Cadence

  4. Establish and conduct collaborations with multidisciplinary partners, both internal and external

  5. Transform design requirements and vendor reference designs into working custom solutions

  6. Successfully bring up and debug opto-electrical systems that include image sensors, display driver ICs, lasers, depth sensors, switching power supplies, and low/high-speed digital communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI and USB SS

  1. BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  2. 3+ years of industry experience in hardware design or electrical engineering roles, including use of schematic and board layout tools and bench test equipment such as oscilloscopes/logic analyzers/function generators

  3. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Public Compensation:

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
