As a Mechanical Engineer on the Facebook AR/VR hardware team, you will develop state of the art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms and sensor integration solutions that will create transformative experiences for users of Augmented Reality. We value people who work well in teams and can brainstorm big ideas.
You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping. You will work on cutting edge technologies with a diverse cross-functional team of engineers and scientists that pioneer mechanical, electrical, optical, firmware, software, computer vision and materials. You should be able to drive a concept into a prototype and envision how that prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product.
Lead or contribute to mechanical solutions as a part of a team
Collaborate with cross-functional team to synthesize ideas into requirements
Use 3D CAD software to create concept and detailed designs for parts and assemblies
Analyze, optimize, build, test and refine prototypes to ensure robust products
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
3+ years of product design/prototyping and R&D experience, including full systems ownership
Experience with optics component mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding
Experience with electro-mechanical systems
Experience with testing and analysis capability (Thermal and structural simulation, etc.)
Experience with mechanical and optics metrology devices
Experience with materials and structural modeling/optimization
