Facebook Research Intern, Computational Photography & Graphics (PhD Univ Student) in Redmond, Washington
Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) are a world leader in the design of virtual and augmented reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative research interns with a passion for technology to develop next-generation head-mounted display and imaging systems at our research location in Redmond, WA. These roles are focused on developing advanced image synthesis methods for virtual and augmented reality systems. In particular we welcome PhD students in computer science, applied math, electrical engineering, or similar, with a strong background in machine learning, numerical optimization, computer graphics and computer vision.
Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Explore the application of machine learning and numerical optimization methods to virtual and augmented reality
Develop next-generation head-mounted display and camera prototypes
Collaborate with the larger FRL team and provide creative leadership on computational display and imaging technologies
Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences
Pursuing a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op
Must be available for 12-24 weeks internship between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019
3+ years experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++
2+ years experience with deep learning platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications (e.g., SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NIPS, ICML, etc.)
Experience with OpenGL/DirectX, CUDA, cuDNN, Halide
Demonstrated experience via an internship, work experience, or widely used contributions to open source projects
