Oculus Research is looking for an intern to help us to invent technologies for interacting with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices. You will explore ways users can interact in AR/VR using a variety of input and output methods and study the user implications of them. Your design work will inform further development and research for the novel methodologies the team is developing in order to interact with virtual as well as real world in VR and AR applications. You will work with world-leading collaborators and mentors in the AR/VR & HCI fields.
This internship is sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Design the detailed interactions, end to to end scenarios and user testing protocols for various interaction methods
Envision and design for use cases that especially demonstrate multimodal interactions - both input and output and analyze the tech requirements for the same
Explore and analyze pros and cons of various user interactions in the context of VR/AR applications
Work with prototyping and user testing / research teams to draw meaningful conclusions that can inform further research and development
MFA or MS or MDES candidate in Design, human-computer interaction, or related field.
Excellent design skills involving use case definitions, wire-framing, and defining detailed user facing as well as technology requirements
Penchant for quick prototyping with novel methods to demonstrate design ideas
Familiarity with user testing and research methodologies
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2018.
Understanding of technology for inputs such as speech, gesture tracking, eye gaze tracking etc
Experience designing or evaluating non-conventional multi-modal interfaces
