Facebook Reality Labs, or FRL, focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Augmented Reality (AR). Compute power requirements of Augmented Reality require custom silicon. Facebook Silicon team is driving the state of the art forward with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. Our chips will enable AR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, to firmware, and algorithms.

Facebook is looking for an SoC Architect Manager who will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers. This ideal candidate will understand the full stack from algorithms and architecture down to silicon back end and qualification to ensure consistency from Architecture to Product. We are seeking an SoC Architect Manager who can lead a team of SoC Architects and Prototyping engineers to drive our future products.

Required Skills:

  1. Build the team who Architect designs to surpass state of the art for metrics such as compute, bandwidth and power consumption.

  2. Build a team of FPGA/RTL engineers implementing SOC Prototypes for real time evaluation of silicon integration and SoC Architectures.

  3. Drive detailed documents and SystemC modeling matching the proposed ASIC implementation, and produce detailed tradeoff analyses for executive review and product roadmap decisions.

  4. Travel both domestically and internationally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/equivalent with 15+ years of similar experience or Masters with 13+ years of experience or PhD with 10+ years of experience.

  2. Track record of leading Architecture and Design teams.

  3. Experience with methods for partitioning a solution across hardware and software, digital, and other multi-disciplinary boundaries in a system solution.

  4. Experience evaluating architectural tradeoffs such as speed, performance, power, area.

  5. Experience dealing with ambiguity with a consumer electronics field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Good understanding of most systems on modern SoCs: SoC security, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Graphics, Compression, CPU and Cache Coherence, SoC Fabrics, Image Acquisition, Power delivery, Design for Testability

  2. Experience developing an Application Processor SoC

  3. Strong ability to work in a fast moving, cross-functional environment

  4. Successful track record of leading teams of 10’s of engineers (at least 30)

  5. Knowledge of industry trends and disruptive technologies

  6. Results oriented, self-motivated, proactive with demonstrated creative & critical thinking
