Facebook EHS Specialist - Country Technician in São Paulo, Brazil

Summary:

Facebook is seeking an EHS Specialist to join our Latin America Region (LATAM) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team. This role partners closely with regional operations and support teams to implement, execute, and sustain company EHS policies, standards, programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, and national EHS regulations, directives, and standards. This role will report to the Regional LATAM EHS manager and will be based in our São Paulo office.

Required Skills:

  1. Inform the employer and employees, through technical advice, of the EHS risks in the workplace, and provide guidance and direction on appropriate risk mitigation measure

  2. Partner with Facilities, Security, Legal, HR, and other key functions, to ensure compliance with applicable requirements

  3. Assess the safety conditions of the workplace (e.g., air quality, ergonomics, walking surfaces, etc.)

  4. Analyze work processes to identify the risk factors that could contribute to workplace incidents and accidents, proposing solutions to their elimination or control

  5. Carry out workplace safety procedures and evaluate the results achieved

  6. With the participation and partnership of workers, carry out programs and processes to prevent accidents at work, and monitor, track, and evaluate results

  7. Promote the Internal commission of accident prevention, brigades, meetings, campaigns, seminars, trainings and other methods, with the objective of communicating and educating worker expectations for safety

  8. Support and conduct the reporting and investigation of near misses, incidents, and accident

  9. Survey and study the statistical data of occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses, analyse frequency and severity, and develop action plans and corrective / preventive measures

  10. Execute the safety procedures and requirements for construction projects, expansion, remodeling, physical arrangements, including contractor engagements

  11. Interact with the government agencies and entities to respond to inquiries and prevent occupational injuries or illnesses

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Technical degree in environmental engineering or science, safety engineering or occupational/industrial hygiene

  2. Safety Technician designation, as defined by Brasil Ministry of Labour

  3. 7+ years of experience with EHS programs, operations or engineering function

  4. 7+ years of experience with applied site EHS compliance management, including regulatory and permitting

  5. Fluent in English and Portuguese

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. EHS professional registration and/or certification in one or more of the following areas: safety management or safety engineering, occupational health or industrial hygiene, hazardous materials management, or environmental science, environmental engineering or management

  2. Internal Auditor experience in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001 or similar industry recognized EHS management systems

  3. Fluent in Spanish
