Facebook seeks a highly motivated and flexible team player to join the LATAM Legal team and serve as Lead Law Enforcement & Security Counsel. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This position will be providing support on a broad range of legal matters with particular focus on ensuring compliance with applicable policies and law when responding to requests for the disclosure of user data, whether in response to the legal process from law enforcement, courts, regulators, or other third parties. The team’s work spans litigation related to user data disclosure to advising on infrastructure deployments, cross-functional product development, and legislative work related to data disclosure, surveillance, and data localization. This role is located in our São Paulo office and will report to the Associate General Counsel, International.

Required Skills:

  1. Advise the Law Enforcement Response Team on issues related to its response to requests for user data from courts, law enforcement, regulators or other third parties in Latin America

  2. Develop and implement effective policies for processing international legal requests and protecting user data

  3. Manage outside counsel and litigation relating to user data disclosure requests

  4. Advise Safety and Security teams working to detect and prevent real world harm to users, and advise the Company on responding to safety incidents

  5. Provide legal support relating to the physical safety of our Facebook employees and offices in Latin America, including advising on infrastructure deployments.

  6. Support Legal and Public Policy teams’ engagement with regulators and legislators on law enforcement, security, and safety matters

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of relevant experience

  2. Previous experience providing guidance to internet app providers in responding to law enforcement requests strongly preferred

  3. Experience with data disclosure, data protection, and surveillance laws, mutual legal assistance treaties, letters rogatory, and other forms of international cooperation

  4. Experience working with law enforcement authorities

  5. Degree in law

  6. Brazilian bar membership
