Facebook is looking for an experienced Writer/Editor to create content for the Facebook AI blog. This person will partner closely with Facebook’s researchers and engineers and our Technology Communications team to chronicle advances in the AI tools and systems used at Facebook and also noteworthy new research that will help drive the field of artificial intelligence forward. Our audience is the technical community of AI researchers and engineers and the tech reporters who cover the industry.
Strong news judgement, writing, and editing abilities are key, as is a knack for distilling technical concepts for an audience of researchers and AI engineers. This person will need to build strong internal relationships with multiple stakeholders to tell compelling stories about our work.
This person should work well in a fluid environment with multiple long-term and short-term editorial projects. He or she should have proven critical-thinking and project management skills. Being able to manage complex, cross-functional projects is important for this role.
This is a full-time position located at either our headquarters in Menlo Park, California, New York, New York or San Francisco, California.
Plan, write, and manage technical blog posts for the Facebook AI blog, including both short-form and long-form content
Manage multiple stakeholders including engineers, researchers, technology communications and leadership
Partner with internal creative services to produce high-quality graphics and video assets
Edit and manage drafts written by engineers and other technical partners at Facebook
Develop other editorial content, such as case studies, speeches, and social posts
Help develop new formats to tell our technical stories in different ways
Manage a content calendar and oversee the internal reviews and approvals necessary to publish content on schedule
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
7+ years of communications experience: journalism, agency, or in-house
Experience with project management, editorial execution, and decision-making
Experience managing agencies and contractors, and putting in place scalable processes to drive and achieve measurable results
- Experience writing and editing technical content for a prominent tech industry company or media outlet, serving a large audience of engineers or researchers
