Facebook Lead Counsel, Product in San Francisco, California

Facebook seeks a highly motivated and energetic tech enthusiast to serve as Lead Counsel on Facebook's consumer product counseling team. The role is dedicated to advising the teams that are creating innovative new products aimed to promote social good and build more safe, inclusive communities on Facebook. This is a great opportunity to work on complex legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

  1. Serve as primary contact point and advisor for product and engineering teams based in Menlo Park (this role can be based out of San Francisco or Menlo Park)

  2. Provide legal advice across many subject areas including data protection laws and regulations, intermediary liability, consumer protection laws, and other global legal frameworks

  3. Coordinate with public policy, communications, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product launches

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. with membership in at least one state bar

  2. 5+ years of legal experience

  3. Experience advising clients on legal issues related to privacy and data use, user-generated content, or intermediary liability

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. In-house experience and/or experience advising business teams on product issues

  2. Experience working with technology clients on litigation, regulatory, and/or data protection matters

  3. Demonstrated ability to work on many different projects at once in a fast-paced environment
