Facebook Manager, State and Local Public Policy, California in San Francisco, California

Facebook seeks an experienced professional to oversee California state public policy and government relations. Candidates should demonstrate experience in public policy, political engagement, and issue advocacy and have a strong understanding of technology policy. Candidates should also possess deep knowledge of and passion for Facebook.

This position will be based in our San Francisco office but will primarily entail work in Sacramento. Travel is required.

Required Skills:

  1. Work directly with state policymakers to promote sustainable expansion in California and the safe and efficient use of online services.

  2. Work closely with industry groups, non-profits and legislative organizations to promote policies that foster a safe, secure, and open internet.

  3. Manage relationships and partnerships with state policymakers in the Executive and Legislative branches.

  4. Willingness to travel (primarily in-state) up to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years of experience in California public policy, advocacy, or government affairs

  2. Understanding of California political process, policymakers, and stakeholders

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of technology, housing, and transportation policy issues

  4. Experience working cross-functionally

  5. Experience communicating to audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in public policy, public administration, or law

  2. Experience managing trade associations and contract lobbyists
