Facebook seeks a highly motivated, energetic tech enthusiast to serve as Lead Counsel on Facebook’s product counseling team. The role will advise the teams that develop and support Facebook’s privacy and data use infrastructure, including privacy settings, educational sites, and systems. The attorney will also maintain Facebook privacy notices, including privacy policies, cookies, policies, etc. This Lead Product Counsel role is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on complex issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
Serve as the primary contact point and advisor for product and engineering teams
Analyze the products, features and systems that Facebook builds to protect the privacy of its users and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies
Draft, revise and maintain Facebook privacy notices, including privacy policies, data policies, cookie policies, etc.
Provide legal advice across many subject areas including data protection laws and regulations, consumer protection laws, global legal frameworks, and research partnerships
Coordinate with public policy, communications, and other cross-functional colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions
J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one state bar
5+ years of legal experience
Experience advising clients on legal issues related to privacy and data use, including the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information
Demonstrated experience providing advice under tight deadline
In-house and product review experience
Knowledge and application of international privacy and data use regulations
Experience drafting and revising company privacy and cookie policies
