Facebook Associate General Counsel, Telecom - APAC in Singapore

Facebook is seeking a highly motivated and experienced team player to serve as Associate General Counsel, Telecom (Asia Pacific region). The position will involve advising on telecommunication laws in various countries throughout the APAC region and beyond. The position will involve working closely with teams who manage Facebook's global infrastructure and teams that are trying to bring connectivity to the two-thirds of the world who are not yet connected to the Internet. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.This is a full-time position located in Hong Kong or Singapore and will report into the Regulatory Legal team in Menlo Park

Required Skills:

  1. Advising on existing and proposed telecom laws and regulations throughout the Asia Pacific region regarding issues that confront Facebook or our various telecommunications partners, including:

  2. Telecom infrastructure, including subsea cables, terrestrial fiber, and points of presence

  3. Internet access services, including those involving satellites and wireless network access points

  4. Experimental technologies, equipment, and spectrum-use

  5. Mitigating regulatory risks in partnerships and joint ventures involving telecom projects

  6. Managing a large number of local and outside counsel on multi-jurisdictional telecom-related projects

  7. Working with diverse groups of technical, business, legal, and policy personnel to develop creative solutions for resolving complex regulatory problems involving US, foreign, and international telecom projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or equivalent), and have a practicing certificate in a common law jurisdiction

  2. 10-12+ years of experience in telecommunications in the region, including experience with relevant legal frameworks and regulatory developments affecting Internet-based services

  3. Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, ability to work well with cross-functional teams

  4. Demonstrated experience navigating stakeholders through novel regulatory issues

  5. Exercise excellent judgment and provide practical solutions

  6. Amenability for significant business-related travel as and when required
