Facebook Legal Privacy Manager, Readiness and Risk Assessment in Washington, District Of Columbia

Privacy and security is central to everything we do at Facebook. The legal department works towards developing practices and procedures that ensure the personal information of our users is safe, secure, and used in accordance with their sharing settings and choices. To help us with our objectives, Facebook is seeking a talented, self-motivated individual fascinated by complex projects, who thrives in fast-paced environments and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish bold things. This is a full-time position.

In this role, you will help develop and execute a global privacy program with a focus on compliance and risk management in North and South America, but including involvement in global privacy work. In doing so, you will assist in managing our compliance with state, federal and global privacy regulations, while applying leading practices to our most critical privacy projects, which impacts our monitoring, assurance, testing, training and awareness initiatives across Facebook.

Required Skills:

  1. Help coordinate and evolve Facebook's global privacy program

  2. Support development and management of internal privacy and data protection controls

  3. Manage projects related to ongoing compliance with privacy and data protection laws, and related requirements

  4. Support establishment and management of tools for documenting and tracking compliance, monitoring and risk management activities with Facebook's global legal and regulatory obligations

  5. Help coordinate internal and external audits/assessments of our privacy controls and procedures

  6. Support development and deployment of trainings that highlight legal obligations and best practices

  7. Communicate privacy and data protection decisions to the broader cross-functional teams, and ensure those decisions are properly implemented

  8. Build relationships and collaborate within cross-functional teams to resolve privacy issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent project or program management experience

  2. 5+ years of experience counseling clients around privacy and data protection

  3. Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects with varying deadlines

  4. Experience with program management practices, tools, and methodology

  5. Experience communicating with different types of audiences both internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Privacy and data protection, information technology/information security experience

  2. Experience with emerging technologies and devices

  3. Knowledge of Facebook products

  4. Consulting or advisory experience on privacy matters

  5. Privacy certification (e.g. CIPP or CIPM or similar)
