Attempting to connect the world requires an alternative approach to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure. Through direct engagement with partners around the world, the Shared Infrastructure Team seeks to foster the deployment of open access and shared infrastructure to enable and expand broadband coverage. As a Partner Manager, you will collaborate closely with a broad Facebook cross-functional team to engage partners on business development and identify potential bottlenecks for connectivity, devise, structure and plan infrastructure expansion projects that support open access and collaboration.
This is a full-time position and is based in Washington, DC.
Support the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects from opportunity identification, business development, and planning through structuring, contract development and execution.
Actively create opportunities for shared infra and drive engagement to close deals.
Identify key infrastructure bottlenecks and assess common requests from operator partners to drive new opportunities.
Champion internally at Facebook (Engineering/Production, Finance, Legal, Regulatory and Policy) and with partners on deal opportunities.
Assemble presentation materials and other documentation in support of cross-functional communications within Facebook and our external partners.
Define creative approaches for telecom network deployment and partnership structures that will help deliver on the vision for open access, wholesale network business models to achieve large-scale impact on connectivity.
Contribute to the development of local, regional and international network strategies aimed at radically reducing the cost of high bandwidth services while simultaneously increasing the network footprint.
Stay abreast of developments in the telecom infrastructure space and share that knowledge with the wider Facebook team.
Support the direction and expansion of the team, helping to scope future roles as the charter of the team grows.
Ability to travel domestic and international 30% or more of time.
BA/BS or higher in an engineering field, economics/business or equivalent experience.
Telecoms and business experience, and experience driving infrastructure deployments.
Experience (5+ years) in telecom development for one or more infrastructure areas: terrestrial fiber, submarine, wireless access & backhaul.
Experience negotiating infrastructure sharing models (FiberCo, co-build, submarine consortiums and/or TowerCo).
Knowledge of wholesale infrastructure economics, operating models and scale.
Knowledge of the basics of fiber infrastructure planning and deployment: route design, construction/civil work, equipment, operations and maintenance.
Knowledge of wireless networks basics, including legacy 2G/3G and contemporary 4G/5G wireless networks: technology and industry developments, spectrum policy, key contributors to OpEx and CapEx and current industry challenges.
Comfort with quantitative and economics analysis.
Good understanding of regulatory and policy implications of infrastructure sharing.
Foreign language skills.
